Destiny 2 The Final Shape Dread: All new enemies, explained

The Final Shape update for Destiny 2 brings with it a colossal amount of content, including a host of new enemies. The Dread has arrived to provide exciting and dangerous encounters for you and your Guardian.

All Dread enemies in Destiny 2 The Final Shape

The Dread faction consists of five new enemies, if we exclude the Tormentor enemy from last year. This team of enemies serves The Witness and is as powerful and unique as their master. Let’s get into what makes each of these new enemies special, and what to look out for when facing them. I’m as excited to face these new enemies as I am for playing the new Onslaught mode.

The Grim

The Grim (affectionately known as the Gun Bat) is Destiny 2’s first flying enemy with actual wings to propel them.

This winged creature will salvage you with many projectiles from its gun whilst swooping around the battleground. Its key feature, however, is its screech. If it hits you, your abilities will be suppressed for a short time, and you’ll get slowed down.

This sort of debuff could be the difference between life and death, especially as they sure won’t halt their own fire to wait for you to recover. The Grim prove to be powerful targets that will need to be a priority if you don’t want to end up slowed and then surrounded.

The Husks and Geists
The Husks are athletic melee powerhouses that will use their acrobatic jumps and leaps to come crashing down on you with their giant blades.

Quick and agile, these large foes will always be on your tail, ready to pack a powerful punch. And don’t even think that death will be the last you have to deal with them.

If you “kill them in the wrong way,” they will disintegrate, and a Geist will shoot from their chest cavity. These ghostly creatures will soar through the air toward you, exploding on impact.

From what I’ve gathered, you’ll need to kill the Husk with a shot to the chest to prevent the Geist from popping free. The Geists can be shot down, but it’s still another target that can be avoided.

Weavers and Attendants

Weavers and Attendants are both very similar enemies, although with key attack differences. They are both Psions that have been repurposed by The Witness, and it shows.

The Attendants have a Stasis ability that will freeze you in place. In Destiny 2, being able to fly around the map is a boon for winning against overwhelming odds, and having that movement frozen can be detrimental to victory.

The Weavers have an utterly unique attack. The Strand ability will launch you toward them if it hits you. It won’t be instant, but like a rubber band, it will lurch you forward, toward the attacker. If multiple Weavers are performing this attack, you’ll be thrown around like a ragdoll. Imagine being propelled into the air, and then frozen…

Subjugators

The Subjugators were revealed last year, and as their name suggests, they have control over the battlefield that other enemies just don’t have.

Subjugators will tower over you and use their adaptable weapons to throw both Strand and Stasis attacks at you, freezing you and throwing you around the battleground. Alongside this, they’ll be launching all sorts of projectiles at you.

With all the other enemies in tow, Subjegators become an enemy that keeps tangling you up and leaving you at the mercilessness of the others.

Despite being a support enemy, they are just as offensive and a challenge to take down.
With the knowledge of all new Dread enemies in Destiny 2 The Final Shape, you’ll need to get prepared, perhaps by getting the Brave Arsenal Weapons.
